In this materialist world we are accustomed to “use once and throw” culture. We generate lot of waste in the form of food, cloths, toys etc. In a poor country like India site of naked children playing in the slums and on the streets are very common on one hand and on the other hand in the affluent society, site of piles of unused, rarely used cloths in the wardrobe is common too. With this idea every year HOPE members go door-to-door and collect cloths and toys from each house and donate it to slums, orphanage and other places. This way so called “waste” for a particular class of the society becomes “best” for other class.
Last year HOPE members visited 2000 flats and collected 250 bags of cloths and 50 bags of toys. Next year our target is to visit 2500 flats. In few years plan is to take this activity on a mass scale and involve large area of the society including NRI community.
